Let’s Protect and Heal the Healer
Being so dedicated to the clients’ well-being and passionate about this work can take a toll. That goes double if you specialize in treating trauma.
There are at least three main sources of burnout for therapists:
Vicarious trauma (taking on the client’s pain)
Moral injury (feeling crushed between the things expected of you and what you feel is right), and
That nagging feeling that you’re not doing a good job with your clients.
Let’s not even mention the pressure of being the “strong friend” for our loved ones outside of the therapy room.
You and I both know why therapists need therapy.
But how do you find someone who can do more for you beyond empathizing and validating you?
How do you find someone who can actually help you strengthen your ability to come back to your center, and just as importantly, to your passion?
This is my specialty.
I am obsessed and passionate about helping therapists. I even started a side project full of resources for therapists, both employees and the self-employed. That project is at WorkingPhase.com, and you’ll love it.
But while you’re here, are you feeling ready and motivated to get the emotional help you need now?
Because right now, we can:
Reclaim your inner peace.
Develop your own inner sense of sanctuary that goes with you wherever you go.
Reignite your passion for therapy.
Rediscover the joy and purpose that drew you to this work in the first place.
Prioritize your most valuable therapy asset: YOU!
Because your well-being is not optional; it’s essential for your long-term success.
Cultivate a life of meaning and fulfillment both inside and outside of the therapy room.
We have to make room for you. Soon.
You can come to my office or log on from yours.
You’re welcome to join me in the office. There are professionals of many types working here and you’ll have lots of privacy.

FAQs
What if I can’t make time to go to therapy every week?
If you want to come in on a regular basis, we can do that. I ask for 90 minute sessions in the beginning of therapy, especially if you’re unable to come weekly. After you’re in a maintenance phase we can shift to 45 minute sessions.
OR…
You can move beyond the weekly/biweekly session paradigm altogether and join me for intensive therapy. In this model, you’ll pick a distinct issue and we’ll spend 6 hours over 1 week just tackling that main issue.
Clients often comfortably take 1-6 month breaks between intensives and then come back for new or related issue. Clients love the flexibility, especially my therapist clients. In our intake session we can discuss if this option is right for you!
(This is also a great option if you’re from out of state but would love to fly in to work with me.)
What makes you a good therapist for me?
3 things make me the therapist you need right now: My experience, training, and personality.
My experience:
I’ve worked in many different settings (MAT, Wraparound, Military Bases, Non-Profit, and Private Practice).
But more relevantly, I have been through burnout at least twice, and am committed to lifelong recovery and prevention. I want to share my hope with you, whether this is your first or fifth time recovering from burnout.
I’ve developed a little burnout prevention/recovery workshop. If you want to hear a bit of my burnout story, feel free to email me and I’ll send you a link to view it, no charge.
My training:
I am an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant.
I am a group facilitator/trainer for therapists in private practice.
Furthermore, my private practice has been serving adults with workaholic tendencies (sound familiar?) for 5 years.
As certified EMDR provider, and consultant, EMDRIA makes sure that I stay on the cutting edge of trauma research and practice.
This includes trainings on a wide range of topics, including spiritual abuse, integrating different therapy skills into your primary modality, and treating marginalized communities.
Plus, I’ve been independently writing about the blessings and challenges in our profession for the past 5 years on WorkingPhase.com. For fun! Like, literally even my hobbies are about serving therapists. I really love this work and the people who do it!
My personality:
We therapists all have our blind spots! You how that you can tell a client a thing and at the same time be telling yourself “Huh, I wonder why I can’t do that for myself…”
Yeah…
You and I are actually going to have a lot of fun while I help you hold up a mirror to yourself and find your blind spots.
The clients and therapist clients I work with talk about the hardest things, and while tears are normal and welcome, you’re going to laugh a lot with me too.
When we reconnect with the joy of living, and accept the absolute silliness of human behavior, you’ll feel that you’re back on the right track.
How much is therapy?
What therapeutic modalities do you use?
Mostly EMDR, with existential and experiential approaches heavily influencing my perspective.
If there is an intervention you love using with your clients and would like to fold into our work here, bring it to the table. I love the chance to be creative and to acknowledge your expertise in the room whenever possible!
Can I also get EMDRIA credit from our therapy sessions?
Nope, sorry! Once you’re a therapy client, you’ll need to stop therapy and wait 2 years before we do any EMDR consultation.
If you’re unsure if you’d rather make me your therapist or your consultant, let me know in your contact form!
I’m happy to help you consider your options and share the names of a few colleagues who could be a great consultant or therapist for you.
I read the Working Phase newsletter and use the resources there. Can I do therapy with you too?
Yes you can! And even better…
I want you to be SO SAFE in my therapy office. A therapeutic relationship is too special to threaten it by selling coaching or other products.
So, while you’re engaged in therapy (and for 2 years after your last session), you can have individual access to all downloadable pdfs, online content, and workshops on WorkingPhase.com for free. Peer support opportunities (e.g. small groups) will be considered and discussed on a case-by-case basis.
