I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a passion for helping women who seek to overcome past difficulties and live a better daily life.
These women have been putting one foot in front of the other for years, never showing how much they’re struggling on the inside. Often, they have had hard times in the past and hoped that keeping it secret, holding it in, or even ignoring it would help. These tactics worked for a while, but now they are left feeling unknown, unseen, and unloved. My commitment is to give them the opportunity to live full, vibrant lives once again.
I utilize different therapies (EMDR, Narrative, and REBT) to help people 1) feel safe, 2) develop skills to cope with their struggles, and 3) face the past when they’re ready. This helps them develop new freedom, meaning, relief, and ability to connect with others. Who I Help
I help people who want to know when, how, and where is it finally safe to admit how they feel and the things that are bothering them. Often these bothersome things are referred to as traumas. The women I typically work with are frequently able accomplish great things, but struggle to enjoy their accomplishments. They typically are seeking therapy to keep their lives from being defined solely by their worst memories. They are able to be more engaged in the life they worked so hard to create for themselves. They also get better at creating boundaries and asking for what they need.
How I Help
I offer psychotherapy (“talk therapy”). I support the use of medication for mental wellness as prescribed by an MD or psychiatrist, however, I do not prescribe medication myself. These sessions are typically conducted on a 1-on-1 basis, however, spouses and family members may be involved depending on the specific circumstances.
In general, I will approach our time together as a chance to collaborate on solutions that work for you. You are the expert in your life. You got yourself this far. I’m here to add perspective, hope, and context, so that you can more easily navigate and change the things you want to change.
More specifically, I primarily practice EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This involves using eye movements to help you tolerate more difficult memories or feelings, process them, and release them. EMDR is not for everyone, and not usually utilized right away. There is a process of getting to know you and your needs and strengths before we start that process.
What Does It Cost?
Individual therapy sessions are $120.00 per hour and are scheduled on a weekly basis. Sessions may be scheduled more frequently depending on your needs and mutual availability.
I do not offer a reduced-rate or “sliding scale”. However, your insurance company may cover a portion of the hourly fee. Please contact your insurance company’s behavioral health department directly to find out if they cover therapy, what type of concerns they allow you to get help for, and how many sessions they are willing to cover. I am happy to provide you with proof of your attendance and invoices (sometimes called “superbills”) as needed.
I am an in-network provider for Cigna, United Behavioral Health (Optum), and Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP).
